LUP 2015 is very excited to present Mariachi Juvenil Alma de Mexico at 5pm at the Mexican Heritage Plaza.  Mariachi Alma de Mexico has been serving the local communities of Gilroy, Hollister, Morgan Hill, Watsonville, and San Jose for over a decade by providing children with various mariachi classes and opportunities. As a result of the program’s hard work and dedication, youth have been able to learn how to sing, dance folkloric music, and play traditional Mexican music. Through these classes, Mariachi Alma de Mexico aims to not only create wonderful musicians, but also great citizens. Values such as respect for family, culture, education and the community are integrated into their programs. Many of the youth that have passed through the Alma de Mexico system have gone on to excel in prestigious academic institutions such as Archbishop Mitty High School, Bellarmine College Preparatory, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, and Berklee College of Music.

MJ Alma de MexicoOne of the academy traditions in helping out the community is the hosting of the Mariachi Alma de Mexico Toy Drive Concerts. Each year a series of concerts are held in December with the partnering of the Salvation Army with the goal of helping the less fortunate families during the holiday seasons. The attendees are asked to donate a toy per family so that they can be distributed to the local families as well as a portion of profits made from ticket sells. This year is especially exciting as they will be hosting none other than Grammy Award Winning Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano! In order to successfully host this event, the Alma de Mexico academy is in need of sponsors. Those that are willing to help out with their cause and program, please contact Director, Angel Amezquita at angel.amezquita87@gmail.com to get set up with one of the various sponsorship packages that they have to offer. Please visit their website for updates and information:  www.mariachi-alma.com.
