On Sunday, November 1, from 2:00pm to 8:00pm artists and friends Rick Moreno, Maria Luisa Colmenarez & Chris Esparza will welcome the Dead (and the living) at La Ultima Parada: A Celebration of Life on the Day of the Dead. Please come and join our annual, intimate gathering of artists, musicians, dancers and friends. We are very grateful for the generous support of our Event Padrino, Alcario “Al” Castellano. The event will be held at the School of Arts & Culture at the Mexican Heritage Plaza, 1700 Alum Rock, San Jose and will feature live music and dance presentations, delicious food offerings, traditional altars, Day of the Dead Mercado and kiddie rides in the Carnaval alongside Alum Rock Avenue.
Los Laureles- Grupo Folklorico de San Jose will present dances from Tamaulipas at 3:30pm. Los Laureles was founded in the summer of 2007 by Cesar Gonzalez and Ashley Lopez. Los Laureles began as a small group of family members coming together to learn traditional Mexican dances. In the winter of 2007 MACLA (Moviemento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana) opened their doors and became ‘home’ to Los Laureles. In the past seven years, Laureles has expanded to seven classes ranging from ages four to forty plus. They have performed for parades, private parties, NFL’s The Oakland Raiders, MLB’s The San Francisco Giants, HP, google, Danzantes Unidos Festival, Garlic Festival, The Santa Clara County Fair, and many more venues.
Los Laureles is proud to produce two formal recitals every year showcasing the Bay Area’s talent and love for the Mexican culture. Keep in step with Los Laureles de San Jose by visiting their website www.LosLaurelesGF.org or write to LosLaurelesGF@gmail.com.
La Ultima Parada doors will open at 2 pm. Cooperacion is $5.00; children ages 12 & under free. Get your tickets now at LUP 2015 tickets.
