On Sunday, November 1, from 2:00pm to 8:00pm artists and friends Rick Moreno, Maria Luisa Colmenarez & Chris Esparza will welcome the Dead (and the living) at La Ultima Parada: A Celebration of Life on the Day of the Dead. Please come and join our annual, intimate gathering of artists, musicians, dancers and friends. We are very grateful for the generous support of our Event Padrino, Alcario “Al” Castellano. The event will be held at the School of Arts & Culture at the Mexican Heritage Plaza, 1700 Alum Rock, San Jose and will feature live music and dance presentations, delicious food offerings, traditional altars, Day of the Dead Mercado and kiddie rides in the Carnaval alongside Alum Rock Avenue.
La Ultima Parada 2015 is proud to introduce Folklórico Herúvi Kalo. The company was established in November of 2014 becoming one of the newest groups in San Jose, CA. Now under the direction of Victor Alvarez, Génesis Ibañez, Kevin Mendoza and Ruth Castro, FHK hopes to be a part of creating something new and diverse in the folkloric world. The group currently has ten members whose ages vary from 16-29 years of age. This dynamic group of dancers are a mixture of style, passion, fun and love for the art of dance.
Folklórico Herúvi Kalo’s debut performance occurred at the 2015 Danzantes Unidos Festival to a full house of the folkloric community . Since then, they have performed for the City of San Jose, J-Town Film Fest, Our Lady of Peace Church, Mi Pueblo Folklorico Competition and many private events. Next up: Heruvi Kalo has been invited to dance alongside folklorico friends, Ballet Folklórico de Los Angeles at “Fiesta Mexicana with Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano” on October 24th, 2015 in Los Angeles!
