La Ultima Parada 2015 – Los Lupeños de San Jose

On Sunday, November 1, from 2:00pm to 8:00pm artists and friends Rick Moreno, Maria Luisa Colmenarez & Chris Esparza will welcome the Dead (and the living) at La Ultima Parada: A Celebration of Life on the Day of the Dead. Please come and join our annual, intimate gathering of artists, musicians, dancers and friends. We are very grateful for the generous support of our Event Padrino, Alcario “Al” Castellano.  The event will be held at the School of Arts & Culture at the Mexican Heritage Plaza, 1700 Alum Rock, San Jose and will feature live music and dance presentations, delicious food offerings, traditional altars, Day of the Dead Mercado and kiddie rides in the Carnaval alongside Alum Rock Avenue.

La Ultima Parada 2015 will present Los Lupeños de San José at 3pm.  They will present Fandango Jarocho en dia de Muertos.  Los Lupeños, currently a program of the non-profit arts organization Cashion Cultural Legacy, was co-founded in 1969 by Dr. Susan Cashion and Ramón Morones. The company began as a study-performance group of Mexican dance and culture. Award-winning choreographer Samuel Cortez became the Artistic Director of Los Lupeños in January, 2015. Los Lupeños has a diverse history and over the years has accumulated a varied repertoire of dances from many master teachers from both sides of the border. Much of this material can be seen throughout the year in large and small performances and events. Los Lupeños Academy offers dance classes to all ages at the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San José, co-sponsored by the Cashion Cultural Legacy and the School of Arts & Culture.  For more information, visit their site at  www.loslupenos.org.
